Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 August 2026

Overview

The HEat and HEalth African Transdisciplinary (HE²AT) Center ("HE²AT Center", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information this website collects, how it is used, and how you can reach us with questions or requests about your data.

Information We Collect

We collect very little personal information directly. The main way visitors share information with us is voluntarily, by emailing us with a question, request, or piece of feedback. When you do, we receive whatever you choose to include in that email — typically your name, email address, and message.

Like most websites, our server and any analytics tools in use may automatically log standard technical information, such as your browser type, general location, pages visited, and time of visit. This information is used only in aggregate, to understand how the site is used and to keep it running reliably — it is not used to identify individual visitors.

Cookies

This site may use a small number of cookies for basic functionality and anonymised analytics. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time; doing so will not affect your ability to read the site's content.

How We Use Information

  • To respond to enquiries sent to us by email.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site, so we can improve it.
  • To meet our obligations to funders and research oversight bodies where relevant.

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

Third-Party Links and Embedded Content

Pages on this site link out to external sites — our partner institutions, academic journals, and our funders — and embed video content hosted on YouTube. These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them; we are not responsible for their practices.

Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect any information shared with us, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

You may ask us at any time what information we hold about you, request a correction, or ask us to delete it. To do so, or if you have any other question about this policy, please contact us by emailing Craig Parker directly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
